For residential properties, the specification would normally be based upon building regulations document E, requiring acoustic performance levels between adjacent dwellings.
The proposed structures at design stage would be analysed by computer; the output of that analysis providing the predicted acoustical performance and allowing redesign where necessary to meet the project requirements. The resulting reports will comment on the compliance of the existing design, but also where the existing structure is not compliant, in which case alternative designs will be offered
